I'm still not seeing how that was even a Facemask?
Rule 12, Section 2, Article 5 of the NFL Rule Book (page 81) states that "no player shall twist, turn, or pull the facemask of an opponent in any direction."
The Rule Book describes the penalty as follows:
"Penalty: For twisting, turning or pulling the mask: loss of 15 yards. A personal foul. The player may be disqualified if the action is judged by the official(s) to be of a flagrant nature."
The Rule Book describes an approved ruling as it relates to facemask penalties (page 81).
"A.R. 12.12 - Third-and-10 on A30. Runner A1 runs to the A33, where he is tackled by B1, who incidentally grasps A1's facemask on the tackle, but it is not a twist, turn or pull. Ruling: A's ball, fourth-and-seven, on A33. No foul."
Prior to the 2008 season, a rule change was approved that eliminated the foul for the incidental grasp of the facemask.
The language of the rule as it relates to a facemask penalty through the 2007 season:
"Penalty: Incidental grasping of the mask -- five yards. Not a personal foul (if by the defense there is no automatic first down). Twisting, turning, or pulling the mask -- 15 yards. A personal foul. The player may be disqualified if the action is judged by the official(s) to be of a flagrant nature."
MAYBE, Incidental Grasping of the Mask. Definitely not the 15 yd. penalty. Whatever. Fudgepackers get yet another call going their way.

Like the fail mary?
Idk what to say besides, yes it does, i guess you didn't see it, i respect your opinion but that is a pull of the facemask, imo.

We did catch a break..
Glad he by rule commited a facemask, huge mistake, and it doesn't appear as if many people on a national level are concerned with that call.

We get to hear and see analysis of the facemask all week now so we will get a clearer picture in a few days. My eyes showed me no finger in the mask. All pad. Bad call.

I don't care all that much as I got an extra 7 points from that last touchdown in fantasy. I think it is a bit of a stretch to say that the 1 finger from the defender was doing a whole lot.
The full rule
“Penalty: For twisting, turning or pulling the mask: loss of 15 yards. A personal foul. The player may be disqualified if the action is judged by the official(s) to be of a flagrant nature.”
The Rule Book describes an approved ruling as it relates to face-mask penalties (page 81).
“A.R. 12.12 – Third-and-10 on A30. Runner A1 runs to the A33, where he is tackled by B1, who incidentally grasps A1’s face mask on the tackle, but it is not a twist, turn or pull. Ruling: A’s ball, fourth-and-seven, on A33. No foul."
If you want to argue that 1 finger really pulled/turned/twisted that facemask, then it is a penalty, if it just bumped it, it's not.

Idk what upsets me more... the Packers winning, or the fact that only Viking fans are upset at the facemask call. It was a good call, you know if it happened to Teddy you would want the flag.

Its right in the post, pulling. He caught a bar with his finger and pulled it. Incidental is no longer a thing, btw.

My entire point is that it was a pull.

Good grief. And the 4 bad Pass interference call/non calls? including abbracadabra's on the last drive. I'm guessing you have nothing to say about any of those except, they were "techically" the right call when they went your way, and a good "non call" when they went the other way? HA
What a joke.

GB wins, refs need all calls be revieved. No pull no penalty. hitting the facemask is not a penalty anymore.
