Risking playing him and the offense is worth it if, you can get this offense firing on all cylinders into the playoffs.

Yeah it's my opinion along with pretty much everyone else, including coaches in the NFL. Nobody plays their stars in a meaningless game just to see if they can "get a rhythm going". Just before playoffs no less. Part of the problem lately is the fact we've been banged up. Now is the time to get your starters healthy. It's no different than a bye week to them. We cant choose to play on our bye week. This is an extra bye week which is much needed given the health of our team.

The offense needs to work on things, but the time to do it is not in a meaningless Bears game that the opponents can watch and learn from. Or worse where they can get hurt and be unavailable in the playoffs.

We need to be fully healthy for the playoffs. Period. Philly had to play their starters but both Miles Sanders and Brandon Brooks got injured. If they are out in the wild card round, that kills Philly. We cant risk something like that. That would be like losing Cook and O'Neill and Cook is 10 times the player Sanders is. All because we wanted to find an "offensive rhythm"? No...

The Vikings are quite simply, slightly above average. Hence the reason they do well every other year. Play poorly, get an easier schedule and do better. The following year the schedule is harder and regress back to the mean. They’ve bounced between a .500 team and a wildcard team for a while now. Playing well in odd years and poorly in even. I don’t think it’s coincidence.

There are worse situations to be in for sure, at least you get a post season every other year but it’s clearly not the recipe for the next tier or sustained success.

They have a good team. They just need a good QB. Look at Tennessee, Miami. Vikings need a QB that can make a difference, not one that just goes thru the motions. The two years this team had a QB that wasn't scared, they made it to the Championship game.

Honestly, I couldn’t care less about sustained success. I’ve been a fan for all but one of their division titles, all their SBs, all their conference championship games. I’ve seen a pretty solid form of sustained success. The Vikings are one of the most successful teams of the past 50 years.

What I (and all of us) have never experienced is a Super Bowl victory. All I want is one. Obviously that’s not what everybody wants, but for me ... one and I can die.

After all, you can’t have New England-style sustained success until you get the first one. For me, let’s get the first one ... then we can be spoiled.

There have been plenty of coaches that have played their starters into week 17 despite clinching playoffs. Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

Also, not many playoffs teams set a record for lack of productivity in week 16. So you know, context.

We don't need this type of energy going to the playoffs.

I don't hate Cousins, just don't like him as the VIkings QB. Watch the MNF game VS seattle again. 4th qtr, 3 minute mark. Yes, that damn QB.

Cousins is not the answer. Has never been in his entire career. He's scared, he can't feel pressure, can't extend a play, wilts under the lights.


Only one less loss than the disappointing 2018 season. How long are you going to keep making excuses for him. Defense forced 2 punts and 3 turnovers in the first half of GB game...Game should have been over by halftime. 2019 defense ranks #7 in scoring this year and ws 2nd best in vikings history since 2003.

Im with you 100%. What I’m saying is I don’t think we have the leadership to get there. Not to that next level. The difficulty with being relatively successful is it keeps people around to perpetuate the pattern. What I described as being stuck in this sort of average success limbo. The only way to break out is to take a risk and restructure the team. I think Zimmer is a great guy and an excellent defensive mind. But we need a head coach and I think he’s in over his head in that respect. Same with Spielman, he has an eye for talent but is spectacularly bad at plugging certain holes. The o-line hasn’t been good for a decade and I’ve gone over many times how poorly he’s managed the QB position. Not speaking about Cousins, again it’s a 10 year pattern.

It’s the definition of insanity. If we want different results, we need to try new things.

First of all, did I defend cousins after the GB game? No. But if you think cousins was the problem vs GB you’re wrong. He was part of it, sure. But the fact that we had nothing to rely on behind him, strayed away from what we do (rollouts, screens, etc), became one dimensional and had a useless play action attack because mike Boone scared no one, sure didn’t help cousins. I wasn’t the only one saying that after the GB game that’s for sure.

A 10 win QB, possibly 11 wins if he played today, 26 tds to 6 ints (2-3 that weren’t even on him) in 15 games, has been in the top 3-6 in many statistical categories (40+ yard completions, QB rating, completion percentage, yards per attempt, TDs, INTs etc), leads us to the playoffs and you’re still complaining. This guy just can’t win with some of you guys. I don’t get it. And you think HE is the problem? And no, you can’t say it was garbage time stats because next to none of it was, you can’t say he didn’t win prime time games, you can’t say he didn’t come back from a large deficit, etc. You simply already had your mind made up about him and nothing will change that. And I sure hope he continues to prove every hater wrong including you next weekend. I wonder what the next excuse will be if he beats the saints....

Third, one less loss? Really? The guy didn’t even play today but I guess we’ll count that loss against cousins when he didn’t even play a snap. Seems fair.

"Well" compared to what? They are 6th in scoring and 4th in turnovers. Top 10 by any measure that affects winning. Statistically they are ranked about the same as the Offense. Did the offense not play "well" this year either?
