True, but again, that was a road game. It's not an excuse per se, but most of us Viking fans are very well aware of the Jekyll and Hyde performance of this team at home vs. on the road. To be real contenders we need to start being a legitimate threat on the road at some point, but the last time someone put up 40+ points in MN was in 2013 when Frazier was HC and it was the Packers (man I really hate them sometimes! :P ) that did that.

If we were playing in San Diego, I wouldn't dismiss it so easily. But I will be shocked if the Chargers make 40 points at Minnesota.
I've told people a million times not to exaggerate!

I remember. They never even punted in that game. It was rough, although I have to say Rodgers made some throws in that one that were so accurate it was almost uncanny. A phrase from The Karate Kid came to mind: "No can defend".

I hate that guy!
I'd be shocked too. I doubt they'll even put up 30 unless the Vikes commit too many untimely turnovers.

not that it means anything after 2 games, but currently 6th in scoring defense. nice to see a significant bounce back after that 9ers game.

Scoring Defense? You mean fantasy? Because unless I took a nap I don't recall a defensive touchdown.

Defensive points allowed.

He's referring to points allowed. The Vikes are currently tied with Dallas at #6 in that category, allowing an average of 18 points per game.

Check out these stats: the Bears are currently dead last in Points Allowed, with an average of 39.5 points per game! However, their defense is ranked 7th in terms of yardage allowed, with an average of 311 per game.

In other words, despite allowing a ton of points in the first two weeks, the Bears defense is actually ranked significantly higher than the Vikes right now since the league's default rankings are determined by yardage, not points (the Vikes are 19th in yardage allowed).

There really should be a better formula for defensive rankings that takes both points allowed (by the defense) and yardage allowed into account.

Oh, sure, you snuck in your short, concise answer while I was writing my longer one but did you provide any interesting statistics to go with it? ;)

LOL. Front 7 will get run over. Rivers will have to sling it to overcome a conservative game plan. Vikings win 27-20.
This will be the blowout win we all waiting for.
Is their secondary good enough to hold up against constant blitzes? I know they have Rhodes who is a good player, but not clued up on their rest of their secondary. I'm pretty sure Rivers has a good passer rating when blitzed? One of the highest in the league last year (second, in fact)
Norv can't hurt us anymore than he already did
The Bengals had 175 yards on the ground against us. The Viks have a young QB. They would be smart to exploit our poor run D.
concerned about the playcalling from us, stopping the run game of the vikings
I think keying in on AP is the way. AP is far more dangerous than Bridgewater considering our run D sucks.
Meh. What can AP do on the Chargers ? It's not like he's ever run for 296 yards in one game against us in the past or anything.
It's nice to see that Min's run D is worse and that they give up twice as many rushing TDs. MGIII will have a better day.
This is a must-win, no way we lose to NORV!!!!
Don't be norvous about the Yikes and their "offensive genius".
Chargers are the better team and should find a way to win.

However, who knows what happens, 2nd week in a row cross country for a 10am PST start.
The ViQueens aren't going to win with AP alone against the Chargers offense. At some point Bridgewater is going to have to throw and score through the air. He's a boom or bust QB. If he is "on" and getting good protection, he can hurt you, but if he is being pressured in his face or his receivers are well covered, he wilts. We'll see if the Chargers can get back to the type of pass D they played against the Lions in the 2nd half. The ViQueen's OLine isn't great in pass pro. I'd be fine with AP going off for 150 yards as long as the Charger defense shuts down Bridgewater and his receivers. I think Philip and Gordon are going to go off and have BIG games. I look for a 24-17 Chargers score, unless the turnover machine rears it's ugly head again.
The Vikings scored a whopping 3 points on the 49ers on opening night, despite all of the turnover on that defense....a defense which gave up 43 points this past Sunday.

Peterson looked good (for the most part) against the Lions, a team that we put up almost 500 total yards against. He also had two fumbles, though he got lucky and one was negated by a penalty on the other side of the field.

Again, AP might have a big day against us, but let's stop with the combination of fatalism and ego it takes to think he's going to re-write the record books against us.

And AP can have a good day against us and still lose the game.
I honestly wonder how many of you can name the Vikings' actual head coach without googling it.

This sh*t ain't about Norv.
Also, I forgot to mention this last night, but the Union Tribune's thread is N***'s Vikings as if Norv's name was profanity.

Boom. That's impressive. I always had to set aside a chunk of time to do this on my laptop, it became more of a written piece every week than the plain enemy fan forum format it started as. It was a lot of fun, but it got to be a lot of work! Thanks for doing this, DK.

Absolutely, I'm glad to help. Thank you for starting it. I'm glad to see you're still doing those awesome posts on the previous game in the "Week Thoughts" thread.

I started it here, but actually ripped the idea off from a Seahawk fan forum haha. So there's that.

Right? I'm glad they know who Rhodes is, but at this point how can anybody not know who Smith is?

This isn't from an enemy fan forum but straight from the Chargers website:

Scouting Report: Chargers at Vikings

There are some good nuggets of information there. For example:
Series History
The Chargers and Vikings have met 11 times in the regular season with the Chargers holding a 6-5 series edge, including a 24-17 victory in the 2011 season opener when they last played. The teams have alternated victories in the series with no team winning consecutive games. San Diego is 3-4 at Minnesota , and the Vikings won the last game there, 35-17, in 2007. The Chargers last victory in the Twin Cities was a 30-17 win in 1993.
Plus, you have to love this Adrian Peterson stat:
In two games against the Bolts, AP has toted the rock 46 times for 394 yards and three rushing TDs along with three catches for 25 yards.
