Blame the GM more than the coach. Childress inherited some solid veteran players as the core. Zimmer inherited Spielmans mess...

I never said to get rid of Zimmer, and you know it. And I never mentioned Bridgewater at all.

Like Detroit, we are a coach, 40+ players, a gm and a competent ownership away from being contenders again.

I hope this is a joke

I have not been that fired up over a Vikings game in years. I was legitimately pissed off at that complete, and utter BS call on Captain Munnerlyn. What a joke. I hate New Orleans and that whinny POS Drew Bress. I hate New Orleans worse than I hate Green Bay/Chicago/Detroit. I wish nothing but the worse on the rest of New Orleans season.
Other than that, yeah, we still suck. None of should be surprised. Kalil is a mess, our offensive line is a mess in general. Let's just hope Teddy Bridgewater can spark us a little (that is, if he isn't killed by our line after a few weeks).

I think you are being a bit too easy on him. I wouldn't say he's a concern. I'd say he's a bust. Time to cut bait.
A bust is usually horrible from the start and shows minimal flashes. Lets not forget Kalil was a pro bowler as a rookie so we know how good he can be. Has he played poorly? Yes. i thought he was a little better today than last week. It concerns me as well but to just say yeah lets cut him is pretty unrealistic.
Others are blaming Spielman for this which is also a joke. Lets see here....it was between Kalil, Blackmon, and Claiborne that year. If anyone tries to sit here and say they would have taken Claiborne or Blackmon over Kalil has some re-thinking to do.! I would have to imagine Kaili was the top OT on everyones board that year so its not like Spielman reached for him or something.
If you guys remember, our previous LT that year was Charlie fricken Johnson so LT was our most immediate need. I can guarantee that anyone on this board would have taken Kalil in that position and if you didnt, you would have taken Claiborne or Blackmon and looked like even more of an idiot right now.
Its pathetic seeing guys on here just throw Spielman and Zimmer under the bus because we just lost to the New Orleans Saints at their place in the 3rd week of the damn season and basically held them in check the entire game. Especially after what we have been through in the last month with this whole Peterson thing. I feel like there are people that just wait to hop on here after a loss and blame everyone and their mother. Granted, we are going to lose games and there will be bumps in the road but jeez, give the damn team a chance. We lost our most valuable player of the last 7 years for christ sake. Do you guys truly believe we were going to knock off New England and New Orleans in back to back weeks without Peterson?? Give me a break. Its sad to see there are fans out there like this.

Hopefully he will be the anti-Ponder... stay calm in adversity. We really need to tighten up our running game and offensive play in general for him to have any kind of success.
I hope you're right purple but as mosscarter says, with this O-line and lack of a running game, he'll be lucky not to get hurt. And I too feel real bad for Zimmer.

There were some positives from today's game, Joseph and Barr looked good ,Harrison Smith is all pro so far, Hodges played well. On the other hand the negatives , well pretty much everything the offense did was weak. Without a doubt we need to find a running back with some juice and can run between the tackles, we have Asiata who has no juice and McKinnon who can't run inside.

The passionate posts about the team are appreciated but please, everyone, post within the rules. Two posts in this thread had to be edited and one deleted, with a warning issued. All 3 contained personal attacks, some much stronger than others. When you disagree, please keep it about the subject. Don't get personal. It's a better board for all of us when that's avoided.

Jim I missed you.
My big question is why isn't McKinnon getting more touches. I know Asiata is the #2, but it is obvious that he sorely lacks any kind of big play threat as a ball carrier.

Thanks. It's good to see you back and posting too.
ReL McKinnon... I'm guessing it's a similar situation to what they had with Patterson last year. The coaches must feel he doesn't have a sufficient grasp of his role in the offense to be a bigger part of it yet.
Maybe Banyard will get his shot to provide a little more energy to the running game.

Pass protection is also an issue with McKinnon. Especially with Teddy out there and an offensive line struggling, I know I wouldn't feel very comfortable with a (small) rookie as the last line of defense on the future of the franchise. I remember seeing a few of McKinnon's pass blocking reps during training camp and it was...not pretty. Whoever is better at keeping Bridgewater upright will see the most time in the backfield.

Holy Ugliness: is that referencing the game or the way this thread has turned?

As much as I totally dislike Ponder. BridgeWater is our Future. Only an organization with NO vision would throw him to the wolves like they did Sunday. In a hopeless game in a hopeless season, WTF do we expect of Teddy?!? Why the Hell do we have Ponder on the roster if not for meaningless moments like Sunday?? Let Ponder get his AZZ pounded by NO.....NOT your QB of the future!!! The Vikes are showing WHY they are a perpetual failure.....idiotic managment, poor judgement of both Talent AND Character.

Ponder wasn't active, they couldn't have played him. There was no reason to dress 3 QB's to start that game(unless you do believe that NO is planning on hurting your qb, which may be true). I'd guess Ponder will be active this next game.
