He's been making big bucks, although a little more so this year than in previous years:losperros wrote: Just checked and you are right. I never knew he was getting that kind of salary.

Re: Are the Vikings now done with FA?
It will be interesting to see exactly how Cassel and Jennings' contracts are structured. It's unlikely that they'll count anywhere near $13M combined in their first year. The Vikings wouldn't paint themselves into that kind of a corner with cap space. This is still a very young team with a lot of obvious holes, so there aren't many excuses for pushing the cap this year.
Re: Are the Vikings now done with FA?
Thats a good point Eli, I was just figuring on the averages. Spotrac now has Cassell listed as a $4 million cap hit, but we probably will see Jennings with a lower number.

The thing is, JA is worth the bucks. He is a game changer and protection schemes have to account for him. I could see KWill moving on or getting asked to restructure, but right now they have ot pay him. No one is behind him worth a salt. I think that will be addressed in April.

Not going to happen. I think the Vikes are done with FA for now. Unless they redo either Jared Allen's or Williams contract they would not have enough room for someone like Cruz. Way to much money and a 1st round pick.mrc44 wrote:Just read an article on bleacher report that stated the giants partial owner believes Cruz will still receive offers and the Vikings are one of the teams?? Not possible with our salary cap unless someone restructures, right?

I don't know about that. Not sure, but I would guess playing football with a torn labrum probably has some pain involved in it.PurpleKoolaid wrote: Love the guy, he wasnt last season. Period. He didnt earn that check. At one point I thought Robo was doing better then him.

Everyones hurt playing football. He never made excusses about it, he just had a sub par year from the one before. Simpson was hurt too, is he finally going to be a superstar now? I doubt hes even slightly better.Raptorman wrote: I don't know about that. Not sure, but I would guess playing football with a torn labrum probably has some pain involved in it.

Yeah, I think they are done with FA unless they get some vets to restructure to help the cap space.

Re: Are the Vikings now done with FA?
Well I've been hearing that they still are interested in trying to get Winfield back. I don't know the chances of them getting him back since there are other teams who will probably offer him the money the Vikings aren't able to offer him. But as for signing any new free agents, I think we're done. Spielman appears to be more of drafter than a person who attacks the FA.
