Winfield for Harvin?

I don't get "Harvin is a nightmare off the field" bit...at least he wants to win, is passionate, and hasn't been in trouble with the law since being a pro.

They're not easily confused. The difference between a passionate player and a diva is that one is a leader, while the other is a self-centered loner who wouldn't be missed by teammates if he were hit by a bus in the parking lot before a game.

I've always admired Winfield. At 35, he still has value on this team. If he is willing to take a pay cut to a cap friendly salary. Keep him. If not..He isn't worth 7 mil a year. Harvin is a priority and is the most versatile player and second most talented player on this team. He is a young impact player who deserves to get paid. Glad they cut Jenkins.

He's still a very good slot corner (we saw what happened when he was injured week 17) and he sets a great example for the younger corners.

To my thinking, Harvin/Winfield isn't the most logical question to ask. A more honest question might be whether you would release Winfield and his $7.5M cap hit in favor of using that cap space on a younger cornerback capable of playing every down? If Winfield won't renegotiate, I find it hard to believe that there aren't much better options available for the that kind of money.

My money says they're both gone next year. Although the reality of the situation with Winfield may make him restructre I just have this gut feeling that Harvin is history. I think we might be getting the 30th first round pick in return.

Winfield may ( I hope not, hes one of my all time Vikings favorites and I pray he will retire as one, but in a few years) because he will be close to 37, but why Harvin? All he wants is more money and a QB that can throw the ball more then a yard. Maybe Musgrave will open the O up a bit and see if ponder can air it ut to PH. Cause it looks like hes the only legit WR we are going to have next year. Some of you make it sound like the end of the world when a player acts up a little cause he wants a bigger payday.

I can easily see the Vikings spending the money. The quarterback, on the other hand, is a completely different situation. If the Vikings stick with Ponder, reasoning that he's good enough to be a game manager and not completely ruin their running game, then Harvin will continue to be dissatisfied and will want to play elsewhere.

Exactly... and if they'd both stayed healthy, who knows what might have happened? Maybe the Vikes would have gone into Lambeau and come away with a playoff win.

Ponder's not holding Harvin back and he IS going to be the starting QB. If Harvin wants them to be more productive together, he should get into camp on time and spend as much time as possible working with Ponder this offseason so the two of them can develop more chemistry. If he wants to be paid like a #1 receiver, it behooves him to act like one and that begins with leadership and cooperation.

Probably not. But I think having both Ponder and Harvin healthy with Adrian Peterson might have led to a playoff win in Lambeau.
