I'm not sure he's thought of as an outside threat (different skill set) and apparently isn't a great practice player.

Losing Simpson really would suck. I still cant get over the fact that he had no problems at all until he woke up on sunday morning. Something seems odd there. I'm not saying he is BSing, just saying that maybe he was covering something up? Hell, I dont know.
At this point I'd rather the Vikings not sign a big name or take a big hit for somebody. Our current WR depth is still good enough to win games. We did win a few games without Simpson. I think that its time for Stephen Burton to shine. I have kept a close eye on him all camp and preseason. I know his TD in the Colts game was a fluke, but hey, he made the fluke catch! He is young, so if anything, he could get the rest of this year under his belt and come out hot next year.
Micheal Jenkins is playing better than I thought he would. He has made some big catches.
I really hope Simpson can keep playing, and if not, I hope we can handle the situation.

Les Frazier on 1500espn right now. Says Jerome Simpson has back issue, may or may not practice today. ``Doesn't sound like lengthy deal''
Doing rehab now and evaluating. Not electing to do surgery...yet.
Sounds eerily familiar to someone.

Maybe he was delivered a few kilos of the good stuff this time and he got hurt carrying that stuff on his back on his way to hiding it in the attic
But seriously i really hope he is ok. If not, put him on the shelf now so he could be back and ready to play after the bye during the tougher part of our schedule.

Even if Simpson was out my guess is Vikings would go the Lee Evans caliber route. I actually love Plaxico but no way he'd get on this young team.

Tough loss! Put's all the attention back on Percy. Who's available that can provide a deep threat?

I wouldn't mind Plaxico. Other than shooting himself, has he caused other problems? I cant think of any. I mean, I'd bet that a solid amount of athletes conceal and carry.
I understand them not wanting him here thought as well.

am i missing something or are some getting way ahead of themselves? do we even know if he's out for this week yet?! let alone missing many games? based on what i have read i assumed it is not known what the issue is yet and he was being evaluated again today.

Possibly. Reports today seem that it may be minor, but pretty vague still
Tom Pelissero @TomPelissero
Adrian Peterson (ankle) and Jerome Simpson (back) won't practice today per Frazier. Simpson has improved, doesn't need surgery.

That's good news on Simpson. Hoping he can practice as soon as Thursday, "all indications" he will play Sunday.

That is awesome news. Let's hope he does not aggrave it while playing this sunday.

I had a herniated disc in my lower back that put pressure on my sciatic nerve. I lost the ability to go up on my tiptoe on my right leg-- muscles were fine, but the nerve controlling them would not do the job. Took well over a year after surgery for me to control it properly again, even then it was still weaker than my other leg.
Maybe Simpson's was just pinched and now it is better and recovered, but if there is actual nerve damage, he could be in for a long road.
I'm hoping for the best.

You could be right. It's just weird that he was moved to the outside on occasion in college and successful at getting deep. But again, that's college ball and we're talking about the big leagues now.
I hope Wright can catch on. Lots of potential there.

Plaxico is one heck of a good end zone target... don't know why he is still unemployed.
