See this is what I don’t understand I guess. What did the 2016 teddy show? It was a season that was carried by AP. Teddy didn’t show much improvement from 2015 to 2016. Outside of the meaningless Chicago game, did he truly win us any game that year? I would say no. And the ones he could’ve won, he got strip sacked in the end (arz and den). I always say I’ve never seen so many fans throw so much support out for a guy that did very little for us from a QB standpoint. Was there potential? Sure. But the injury hit and a lot of that was out the door. Bridgewater will probably be forever a question mark.fiestavike wrote: ↑Thu Dec 27, 2018 11:56 amI did not think Ponder showed a whole lot of promise, though I was in favor of giving him every chance and I tend to place a high value on continuity. My own opinion, outside of '09, the vikings haven't had a QB I thought gave them a better than average chance of winning the super bowl with the exception of 2016 Bridgewater.Mothman wrote: ↑Thu Dec 27, 2018 11:26 am
I think they were impatient with Ponder too. They both showed promise at times. Ponder obviously didn't work out for anybody. Maybe Bridgewater will and the Vikes will regret letting him go. I think he's supposed to start for the Saints this week so that will be interesting!

"Meaningless Chicago game"? I believe that was a regular season game that helped us win the division. What a weird take.Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 28, 2018 8:46 amSee this is what I don’t understand I guess. What did the 2016 teddy show? It was a season that was carried by AP. We are thinking of different seasons. 2015 Bridgewater was good and developing, and I thought showed a lot of improvement, though I didn't think he gave us a better than average chance of winning it all. 2016 Bridgewater seemed to have taken a big leap forward, had clearly become the team leader, and I thought was a great match with the Vikings. Sadly, that's the year he was injured in practice.Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 28, 2018 8:46 amSee this is what I don’t understand I guess. What did the 2016 teddy show? Yea that is pretty gross. Especially for a guy who by all accounts was one of the nicest people in the NFL. Winston and Big Ben have been accused of some pretty terrible things, and I could see someone wanting them hurt, but all Ponder did was suck at football.Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 28, 2018 8:38 amPretty sure nobody thought Ponder was “still” the answer on this board. However guys wanted to give him time. No different than guys wanting to give Teddy more time if it wasn’t for his injury. Time is something you never really give guys (Waynes, Ponder, Treadwell, Cousins, etc).PurpleKoolaid wrote: ↑Fri Dec 28, 2018 3:55 am
Hah I remember this perfectly. And there were some on this board that still thought Ponder was the answer. I hated Ponder so much I really wish he would get seriously injured. The only player I ever wished this on. A friend was at some festival a few years ago, and some bar was sponsoring something Ponder was promoting. There was even free booze (if you liked whiskey, which i certainly did) and I said there was no chance in hell I wanted to meet him or support anything he did.
Also, wished serious injury on the guy and wouldn’t support anything he did?!! It’s not like Ponder was a bad guy. Little over the top wouldn’t ya say?

Meaningless in the sense that Chicago was well down and out by that point and the worst team in our division. If we didn’t win that game there was a problemStumpHunter wrote: ↑Fri Dec 28, 2018 9:29 am"Meaningless Chicago game"? I believe that was a regular season game that helped us win the division. Why would anyone still want time for Ponder if they didnt think he was the answer? Try making sense.Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 28, 2018 8:38 amPretty sure nobody thought Ponder was “still” the answer on this board. However guys wanted to give him time. A little over the top? Yeah, thats why I posted it. I, unlike some people that claim they have an eye for talent, knew Ponder wouldnt be the answer to anything. When I heard his name as our first pick I almost cried. Rick panicked and us fans were stuck with Ponder. I would have rather had Joe Webb or Tjoke playing then Ponder. He played like Cousins, afraid to do anything.

Re: Min at DET post-game
Lol made perfect sense. Nobody is still asking for time. I’m saying when he was only a year or two in as a starter, some fans weren’t ready to completely write him off. They wanted to give him time (the usual 3 years), something you never give a rookie. Nobody was saying he would “still be the answer” so stop speaking for the board and putting words in mouths.PurpleKoolaid wrote: ↑Fri Dec 28, 2018 11:52 amWhy would anyone still want time for Ponder if they didnt think he was the answer? Plays like cousins? Lol ok dude. That couldn’t be more false but we all know how you feel about cousins. Say no more
And yeah, you were over the top. Pretty ridiculous to wish serious injury on a guy just because he’s a bad football player but an overall nice guy. Pretty sure anyone would agree with me there. And I’m sure you knew right from the start Ponder wouldn’t be the answer. I’m sure you thought Tom Brady would’ve been the real deal too when he was a 6th round pick. Nobody cares about that and nobody truly knows anything. It’s easy to sit here now and say yeah I knew Ponder wouldn’t be the answer. Bottom line is, Ponder wasn’t the answer and nobody is saying he would’ve still been the answer. So whatever you’re trying to argue, you’re drawing dead.

I laughed at this because I had the same reaction. As soon as I heard Goodell utter the name "Christian..." I flew back into my couch in disgust.PurpleKoolaid wrote: ↑Fri Dec 28, 2018 11:52 am When I heard his name as our first pick I almost cried. Rick panicked and us fans were stuck with Ponder.
