Ragland is an oldschool thumper MLB like E.J. Henderson and does not match Zimmer's needs 100 percent, so he is out
My quess is Zimmer and company will take the DT (Billings) as he is rated a better player
The Vikings will likely draft a wide receiver, but who?

I'm not sure what you believe Zimmer's needs to be in a LB. Ragland does compare favorably to James Laurenitis (ran a bit faster than JL as well). I don't know if the jury is out on him being able to play all three downs. He's got great vision and would be quite the asset against the run.jackal wrote:Ragland is an oldschool thumper MLB like E.J. Henderson and does not match Zimmer's needs 100 percent, so he is out
I think Billings is likely a higher rated player as well, though Ragland is arguably more immediate need. If it's between those two I'd be shocked if the team took Ragland over Billings. My quess is Zimmer and company will take the DT (Billings) as he is rated a better player

Agreed. Spending that much time with a prospect is not a #smokescreen. The real question is who they pick if he's off the board at 23.Mothman wrote: I could obviously be wrong but if he's available, I think the Vikes are going to draft him.

i disagree. from the look of zimmer's defenses in the past he utilizes a run thumper quite a bit at mlb, including jasper brinkley here in 2014. with the depth at d tackle we can still get a quality guy later on, but i don't think we could add a lb like ragland.

I realize this is just my opinion, but if Ragland lives up to what I think he can be, there won't be a team in the league that doesn't wish they would have gotten him.jackal wrote:Ragland is an oldschool thumper MLB like E.J. Henderson and does not match Zimmer's needs 100 percent, so he is out

Re: The Vikings will likely draft a wide receiver, but who?
i see the Vikes going LB at some this draft. I think if you find another exciting young talent to line up with Kendricks and Barr, it would be fantastic to watch. I wouldnt mind us waiting a bit for one though?
I also think, along with quite a few members of this message board that the WR class, isnt exactly stacked. But i do see some value recievers later down the order.
Obviously, draft plans change every pick, but for our needs alone, i'd like to see us go:
Round 1 - OT Taylor Decker/Jason Spriggs
Round 2 - LB Joshua Perry (love this kid)/ WR Michael Thomas (if he's still around)
Round 3 - WR Kenny Lawler (lots of upside)/ FS Keanu Neal (hard tackling safety)
Round 4 - FS Sean Davis (another hard tackling safety, we love them
)/ WR Charone Peake
Round 5 - WR Cody Core(looks a very good athlete)/ LB Blake Martinez
Or whoever you may feel could subsitute in for these players at the positions outlined above. I do like the sound of an elite group of LB's though.

Ragland for sure! Vikings would be set a LB for a few years. Move him or Kendricks to the outside.halfgiz wrote:Doctson, Ragland, Billings all sitting at #23 who would you pick?![]()
Probably the responsible thing to do would be take Doctson. But with Zim you never know

Don't hate on my Buckeyes. Some of the best Vikings went to Ohio State.
Including now, HOF WR #80 Cris Carter

Moving either of them outside would be a gross mis use of talent.CbusVikesFan wrote: Ragland for sure! Vikings would be set a LB for a few years. Move him or Kendricks to the outside.
