Again, I think the still shot is deceptive. When I watched the play in motion, it didn't look like that throw was ever a realistic option.
I'll leave it that. After some of the debates about still shots that took place here last year, I've developed a deep aversion to arguing about them.
I still think Ponder should have stepped up in the pocket.

They've both had strong camps/preseasons. The defensive line should be a strength this season with a healthy rotation. Couple that with improved linebacker play, (and quality rotation there as well) and the Vikings have the makings of a formidable defense. Barring injury, if they can play disciplined, penalty-free football with some improved play by the secondary it should be an improved (good?) year. Secondary still has concerns for me, however. I'll be watching rush defense and opponent third-down success rate pretty closely.

!.) Teddy is a VERY conservative QB. He is quick to run thru his options and either take a short dump off, or run for a short gain. This is OK IF you buy into a game plan that centers on AP being the key to victory and the QB being told to "just not lose the game for us". Time for AP to put up or shut up I guess.
2.) I am in no way convinced our OL has improved. So far its just injury prone and relatively unchanged and very little effective run blocking has been seen this preseason.
3.) No questions have been answered in our secondary. It remains the big concern of our D.
I can't wait for REAL football to start and answer all these questions that have been there for over a year.

I'll disagree a bit here as I think in Teddy's case, efficient should not be mistaken for being conservative. So far it looks like he's picked his spots down the field and he showed that to end last season as well. He knows how to read defenses and go through a progression, so the dinking and dunking does not bother me as the chains are always moving. He'll take his shots when he can. He doesn't put the team and ultimately, the defense in bad spots by forcing the issue in what turns into a turnover. Even without finishing drives I think he drastically helps their field position battle, which is just another way of chipping away at the opposing team. Especially if you have an above average-great defense, which the Vikings are trending towards.
8.4 YPA with a 82% completion percentage doesn't seem conservative to me. That sounds like a guy who is capable of leading an offense and taking what the defense gives him.

This makes too much sense. I'll go with this for now.
