I'm a fan of Shaw. Wouldn't mind him as a late-round developmental guy.ibleedPurple wrote:Why is nobody talking about connor shaw did he get in trouble or something? He was 24-1 td/int last season playing against SEC defenses that's a tough thing to do. Watched his film he has a good arm makes good decisions and can move very well in the pocket.
He's a poor man's Jon Kitna. He has admirable qualities (tougness and leadership), but I'd be very surprised if he did anything in the NFL.ibleedPurple wrote:Why is nobody talking about connor shaw did he get in trouble or something? +1 Shaw shows a ton of potential and would be a nice 3rd day pickup.dead_poet wrote: I'm a fan of Shaw. Wouldn't mind him as a late-round developmental guy.
If he lasts long enough, he's the type of player Id love to see the Vikes select late (preferably after selecting another QB prospect much earlier) and start developing as their #3 QB and/or a practice squad QB.dead_poet wrote: I'm a fan of Shaw. Wouldn't mind him as a late-round developmental guy.
Absolutely. He looked pretty darn good vs. Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl.Mothman wrote: If he lasts long enough, he's the type of player Id love to see the Vikes select late (preferably after selecting another QB prospect much earlier) and start developing as their #3 QB and/or a practice squad QB.

Practice squad QBs taken in the draft are a gamble. Not whether they'll develop, but whether you'll be able to keep them. Look at what happened with Tyler Thigpen. If the guy shows a hint of potential during the preseason, some other team will grab him before the season ends.Mothman wrote:If [Connor Shaw] lasts long enough, he's the type of player Id love to see the Vikes select late (preferably after selecting another QB prospect much earlier) and start developing as their #3 QB and/or a practice squad QB.
True, but I don't think that changes whether they're worth drafting. If the Vikings draft 2 QBs and they both look good in the summer, they can keep them both on the roster. If they end up finishing the preseason with 4 QBs who all appear worth keeping, that's really just good news. Pick the best 3 and if the 4th is eligible for the practice squad, put him there and hope nobody signs him. If they do... well, they've already kept the 3 QBs they considered best.Eli wrote:Practice squad QBs taken in the draft are a gamble. According to Rob Rang
Best fit: Zach Mettenberger
Good fit: Blake Bortles, Derek Carr
Bad fit: Manziel
Poor fit: Manziel
Rationale: Pairing Manziel with Peterson and Patterson might make for a fun fit in a game of Madden, but the Aggies star is significantly shorter and more reliant on improvisation than any of the quarterbacks Turner has ever won with as a head coach or offensive coordinator.
