Re: Vikings vs. Seahawks— Preseason Game Thread
I think it's important to remember that the defense was without Floyd and Kendricks so a dropoff in run defense is to be expected. Still, they stopped Seattle on 3rd and 4th and short and didn't give up any points. They sacked Wilson 4 times, twice with a 4-man rush and twice with a strong side safety/LB blitz.
Tom Johnson should be mostly relegated to situational downs. He's a guy you want in when the line can pin their ears back but not really someone who can be an all-around tackle.
I hope Rhodes is okay because the drop off is pretty significant once you get to the Alexander/Price level.

Folks waaay too concerned about Shaun Hill. Not only can I tell the undervalue that fans place on Teddy, but that they place on this defense....Hill is capable and the Vikings D is going to hold it down, but Teddy is as tough we seen as Favre...Not insusceptible, but if it comes to it, Hill can efficiently get the W..Stop frettin', friends.

I don't understand why everyone is up in arms with Shaun Hill right now.
Is he the ideal back-up? No - I wish the Vikings would have drafted a QB this year.
However, who out there is better than Shaun Hill right now? Besides my boy Tarvaris (
), there isn't anyone else I would rather have right now.

Re: Vikings vs. Seahawks— Preseason Game Thread
Agree 100%, Hill played halfway decent against Seattles first team defense and led us to two scoring drives. Something Russell Wilson couldn't do at home against our defense. It clearly wasn't our run game that did it. It was Shaun Hill. So you guys can complain about Hill all you want but all I know is, he got the job done Thursday night. No matter what way you look at it. I'm fine with Hill. Does he scare me at times? Yeah but I liked what I saw a few nights ago. And I can guarantee there is not a better FA QB out there than Hill. It disgusts me that Tebows name is even discussed.PacificNorseWest wrote:Folks waaay too concerned about Shaun Hill. In regards to what? Backup QB's or fan expectations of the Vikings backup?Mothman wrote:The bar sure is low.

Tom Brady. We can trade Robison or Hill for him, can't we? Right?Pondering Her Percy wrote:Well if someone has a better solution than Hill right now, i would love to hear it.......
Cold is temporary. Purple Pride is forever.

The "better solution" should have been addressed a long time ago.Pondering Her Percy wrote:Well if someone has a better solution than Hill right now, i would love to hear it.......

I agree but it is what it is now. And I personally thought that Hill did fairly well against a good defense the other night. So I'm not nearly as worried as someMothman wrote: The "better solution" should have been addressed a long time ago.

I think they thought Heinicke was the better solution and then he had his accident. But now it's just a wait to see what QB's get cut. I think we could go with 3 QB's this year again and I don't think the 3rd one is on the roster yet.Mothman wrote: The "better solution" should have been addressed a long time ago.
There's not one mention of Heinicke status and possible return date.
Re: Vikings vs. Seahawks— Preseason Game Thread
He done fairly well...but he is so banged up he can't even practice. What good is that?Pondering Her Percy wrote:

Re: Vikings vs. Seahawks— Preseason Game Thread
He played okay against Seattle in less than half of a preseason game. That's a far cry from playing against them (or anybody else) in the regular season. As halfgiz pointed out, he's already missing practice time after that performance. His sub-average arm and immobility were on display Thursday night and he's showing his age. Hill has a head for the game and he could probably function adequately as a backup if called upon briefly during the season but if they were to end up needing him for an extended period of time, I doubt it would go well.Pondering Her Percy wrote:I agree but it is what it is now. I do see your point about available alternatives though.
You might be right about that.halfgiz wrote:I think they thought Heinicke was the better solution and then he had his accident. But now it's just a wait to see what QB's get cut. I think we could go with 3 QB's this year again and I don't think the 3rd one is on the roster yet.
Re: Vikings vs. Seahawks— Preseason Game Thread
I think his limited exposure in the Rams game last year proves that he's not an adequate backup even with brief playing time. He was terrible when he was called on in that game and he's only older this year.Mothman wrote: Hill has a head for the game and he could probably function adequately as a backup if called upon briefly during the season but if they were to end up needing him for an extended period of time, I doubt it would go well.
