Re: John Carlson released
I think there may be some good TE's in the later rounds as well. I wouldn't be against drafting a TE in the 6/7th like Jake Murphy: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/play ... ake-murphy
Re: John Carlson released
I'm betting he'll be re-signed under less expensive contract.
Re: John Carlson released
Somewhere else? It sounds like they already tried to have him do that here.

Eric Ebron at 8?
Probably not.
Carlson is replacement-level at this point, I suppose.

Re: John Carlson released
Was a cute try for two TE set but ultimately he did next to nothing.

Does anyone know how much cap this saved us? I feel like seattle knew he was done a couple years ago. Could have used the money else where.
Re: John Carlson released
I was thinking here but I didn't really think it through, nor did I realize they'd reportedly already discussed a restructured deal with him. Maybe they've just decided to move on then.Crax wrote:Somewhere else? It sounds like they already tried to have him do that here.
I wonder what kind of offer he turned down. He had a good game or two last year but I can't imagine he's going to get much more than the veteran minimum from any team at this point.
Re: John Carlson released
Thats one down, now if they cut Guion, and restructure Greenway, we are in business Cap wise at least.

Re: John Carlson released
I think we are in business either way. We are now a little over $33 million in available cap space which is about the 7th or 8th most in the NFL. I will be furious if they don't AT LEAST restructure Guion. If it was me, I would just let him go because he is pretty much useless in my eyes. Maybe as depth but that's it. Guion would save us another $4 million if we cut him. Something is telling me we are going to make a huge signing. My guess is either Michael Johnson, Jarius Byrd, or Alterraun Verner.KSViking wrote:Thats one down, now if they cut Guion, and restructure Greenway, we are in business Cap wise at least.

We can always be in better shape, though.

Good riddance. Carlson was a just another bad FA. Glad he is gone. Didn't work in our 2 TE system, cant block worth a sh!t.

Re: John Carlson released
There's a difference though....we didn't have a 2 TE system. Billy "The Brain" Musgrave's version of a 2 TE set consisted of using Carlson on a limited basis and when he was in, he had him running check-down routes. Granted, I'm glad Carlson is gone but Musgrave didn't give him much of a chance. I mean he didn't even utilize Rudolph enough IMO. Either way, Carlson doesn't fit Turner's offense anyways so it's a easy call to let him go.PurpleKoolaid wrote:Good riddance. Carlson was a just another bad FA. Glad he is gone.
