Re: KR/PR?
Marcus Sherels has been tendered, so he'll most likely be the punt returner once again.
I think Joe Webb's days in Minnesota are numbered, but if the Vikings do keep him as their third QB, I suppose there's a chance they could use him on kick returns. The Vikings will be drafting a number of wide receivers and defensive backs this year, some of whom will most likely have KR ability.

The kid is nice and an athletic freak but come own, hes done. Let him figure it out on his on. let him go to the Canadian league or something to develop his WR skills or whatever, don't waste a roster spot on someone we know would only be played as an utter last resort at ANY position right now

Go pick up another Gamecock. Ace Sanders could be a good late rounder as a receiver and kick returner.

Re: KR/PR?
Dang. Looks like possible Blazer, if anything for Joe.
@StribDW: I asked Frazier if Cassel signing revived temptation of Webb to WR: "I'm not thinking that way. Things could change. But I see him as a QB."

At this point, they should just cut him and move on. Give him a chance to catch on elsewhere.

I like Sherels, as he's decent, but he's almost a waste of a roster spot since he's pretty bad on defense. Get someone like Ace who has more playmaking ability and explosiveness and could probably provide a spark to the offense as well.

Re: KR/PR?
Joe Webb has only returned the ball 1 time as a Viking for 30 yards and that was back in 2010. He is not an experienced kick returner.
We should look at Tyrann Mathieu if he's still available in the later rounds. He's a very good returner.

Re: KR/PR?
There are always guys you can find on the third day that can compete pretty well for return specialist jobs. Depending on how they go with the draft, too, they might end up using Jarius Wright or one of their picks to handle kick return duties. Sherels is a pretty decent punt returner, and it's nice to have a backup defensive back handle those duties for obvious reasons.

I'm curious to see how well he could do in the new USFL or CFL, given a real shot to start and play in a regular (non-playoff) situation.Mothman wrote: At this point, they should just cut him and move on. Give him a chance to catch on elsewhere.
I think Viking fans should cut their losses with Webb and move on. I really believe a lot of the stuff that the sportswriters were writing was nothing but puff in an attempt to drum up a perpetual quarterback controversy. Plant some seeds in the fans' minds, see what happens. The guy was obviously a good athlete, but some of the comparisons that were being made, in retrospect (Bo Jackson? If you never saw Jackson play before he got hurt, you wouldn't easily believe that comparison...though I almost bought it when I was looking at the Vikings record and feeling the need to drink), seemed pretty much like hype.
