Re: Draft Day Discussion
The draftniks, Kipers, and consensus big boards didn't have a clue about how the guards in this draft were valued. No way in hell could we have traded back and got Jackson. He was picked right about where he should be. A lot of people have him as the best guard in the draft and he could have ...

Re: Draft Day Discussion
Oh, and I have to mention the acquisition of Sam Howell as well since he was basically acquired with one of the 5th rounders. Personally, I'm a big fan of Howell. He hasn't lit the league on fire by a long shot since he was drafted. He's not the biggest guy and he's bounced around a bit since he ...

Re: Draft Day Discussion
I like both picks. Based on KAM's golf analogy comment of "we want players who will keep the ball in the fairway", I would not be sure that Addison is in any long term plans.

Re: Offseason Thread
Lots of angst here about Rodgers being a maybe yes, maybe no.
IMO the Vikes are sifting through a LOT of variables here. Various reports claim various things, such as Flacco is still in play for the Vikes, the Dolphins would LOVE to get McCarthy, etc. Who knows what's actually true - but most of it ...

Re: KAM/KOC possible extensions
BFlo wasn't here yet.
Good catch. Change to "the coaching staff at the time".
Hamilton's biggest knock was his 40 time speed. ... I think Hamilton would have fit any scheme.
That's the logic I don't subscribe to. Hamilton may have fit many schemes but not ours, who knows. With our ...

Re: KAM/KOC possible extensions
I get where you're coming from, but then he must not have thought much of Kyle Hamilton as compared to what he thought of Dallas Turner as prospects.
Using Hamilton as an example, a few reasons I don't like to compare how our pick did vs a guy we passed on:
1) We don't know if BFlo told KAM that ...

Re: KAM/KOC possible extensions
ESPN article today ranking all the 2024 team drafts. I know all the caveats - "who wrote the article?", "you can't judge a class until 2-3 years down the road", etc.
But the Vikes draft was rated dead last in the league. Fair points were made (I felt) until they got to Reichard, calling him average ...

Re: KAM/KOC possible extensions
Also, I think it's important to remember rookies are rookies even if they get on the field. It is very rare for rookies to come in and have immediate impact. There are some rookies that manage to do that, but most should get some time and latitude to develop no matter how highly they were drafted ...

Re: KAM/KOC possible extensions
I'm hoping that the main reason Turner spent time off the field was because the guys in front of him were just that much better than he was given he's a rookie.
He was behind Gink on the depth chart all season and he was playing lights out. I still have a lot of hope for him.
I'm a lot less ...

Re: Vikings at Rams
I have to wonder if KOC didn’t go too far in trying to tailor the Vikings passing game to Darnold’s strengths — so much that he nearly removed the short passing game, even hot routes (of which there didn’t seem to be any).
I can only speak to the playoff game against the Rams which I was able ...

Re: KAM/KOC possible extensions
I agree on the criticism of misses in the draft, but there certainly was some really bad luck in the draft which took away chances for things to even out. I don't ever agree with cherry-picking "well this guy was picked after our guy" type logic unless it's over a 10 year span. I mean, even the ...

Re: KAM/KOC possible extensions
Why couldn’t it be said that he was unlucky in the draft?
Because moving down from what, 12th to 30th to just swap second round picks is not a matter of bad luck. Not only didn't KAM get value in that trade, he left some really good players on the board for others. Kyle Hamilton comes ...

Re: Sam
I have absolutely no idea which Sam Darnold will show up against the Rams...My gut tells me it's 70% chance a repeat of the Lions game and 30% chance the "good" Sam Darnold will show.
And in the spirit of Lucy pulling the ball away, I can EASILY see him crumbling in the Rams game JUST so our ...

Re: Sam
I don’t disagree with you on Darnold’s play. It was bad against the Lions, and he simply can’t repeat it.
I think it goes beyond "he simply can't repeat it". His performance (admittedly under adverse conditions) was historically bad.
From Bill Barnwell at ESPN ...
