Re: Patriots @ Vikings Game Day Discussion Thread -- Week 2
The game, IMO, is much closer than the score indicates. The long int return and the blocked FG returned for a TD masks a pretty competent game so far for the Vikings. It's 24-7, but it feels like a pretty good 24-7 given we are playing the Pats and given the incompetent play the past few years. Meh ...

TD + 2 pt conversion would put Washington up, so don't doubt the Vikings' defense's ability to screw this game...Purple Jesus wrote:Well, hey, at least now we can't lose the game on this drive. But this one most certainly is going to OT.

Re: Redskins @ Vikings Game Day Discussion Thread -- Week 10
Don't convince yourself that Ponder is good. The redskins Defense is as bad as ours 30th and 31 in Points allowed and yards gained on
I'm far from convinced he's good -- I think he's serviceable. He was pretty decent for most of last Sunday's game against the Cowboys, and he's been decent so ...

Re: Redskins @ Vikings Game Day Discussion Thread -- Week 10
Ponder is 14/17 so far on the pass?! This is his second "serviceable NFL QB" game in as many games. He's had some bad passes, but he's at least giving the receivers a chance of making a play on a majority of his passes. I'm no fan of Ponder, mind you, but he's been *much* better the past two games ...

The Vikings defense has *THE WORST* 3rd down percentage in the league.
Highest 3rd down percentage - defense:
Minnesota - 58/118 - 49.2%
Cleveland - 65/141 - 46.1%
Atlanta - 49/107 - 45.8%

Detroit - 29/100 - 29%

Re: Vikings @ Cowboys Game Day Discussion Thread -- Week 9
Yup. That has happened in 3 games this year, and Frazier just refuses to go get the win. He rather play not to lose, and only once against the Steelers has he gotten away with it. You have to be the aggressive if you want to win. You need to give this team a chance to put it away.
Didn't ...

Re: Vikings @ Cowboys Game Day Discussion Thread -- Week 9
No doubt. This game has at least been competitive! Ponder has played well enough to get the job done vs a decent pro team. I just wish we could cover Witten for crying out loud!Lash Man wrote:I expected a blow out so this game has been great so far

Re: Vikings @ Cowboys Game Day Discussion Thread -- Week 9
And that missed extra point is the difference between needing a TD to win/tie and needing a FG to win/tie. That was a *huge* miss... There's a ton of time left on the clock, certainly enough for Romo to drive leisurely down the field and chew up the clock.

Re: Vikings @ Cowboys Game Day Discussion Thread -- Week 9
He helped push him into the endzone, and he helped keep AD from going down after a couple of Cowboys tried to up-end him back near the 5 yard line. Awesome stuff!PurpleKoolaid wrote:Who the heck is 86? He was pushing AD there, right into the endzone.

Re: Vikings @ Cowboys Game Day Discussion Thread -- Week 9
lol I didn't know how to reply, and this is perfect.
You don't think it sounds extremely juvenile to complain about the refs? EVERY team that's down has fans that whine about the refs every game. I just dropped by a Cowboys forum, and there are fans there complaining about crappy refs, about ...

Can we stop complaining about the refs? It makes us fans sound extremely desperate. We may be, granted, but it doesn't reflect well on anyone to complain about refs...

Ah, we're Vikings fans, so we only get one good half of professional-quality football per month. Back to the normal, college football-quality play-making. Ugh.

Re: Vikings @ Cowboys Game Day Discussion Thread -- Week 9
Pretty decent game so far, especially by the Vikings' standards. Ponder is playing pretty well -- nothing spectacular, but he's getting the job done so far. The Vikes are moving the chains consistently, which is one of the few times this entire season so far that I've been able to say that ...
