Wowwww. Big move! Essentially, we moved down 2 rounds in 2023 and 1 round in 2024 to get Hockenson. I like the compensation. Hockenson has been really solid this year in Detroit.

I think this will be a good-to-great move, always liked his talent.
I guess this means Irv Smith is moving over to blocking TE?
Seriously if they ever get something for Irv, this is even better.

He's definitely a huge upgrade. Teams will have to respect the middle of the field now. How good is he at blocking? I'm assuming they'll want to keep him long-term after giving up a second to get him.

It is a little high price to pay but he is a stud! Good trade and bye bye Irvin!

I actually thought that Irv was coming around. It's a lot to pay for a good, definitely not great TE.

Re: TJ Hockenson a Viking
I just found out that Smith has a very bad high ankle sprain expected to keep him out 8-10 weeks. We had to make this deal. Considering that we didn't get raped in the compensation we sent.
I saw a report that we were expected to have Cooks before the deadline passed. Did getting Hockenson end that or might we still get Cooks?

I don't see that deal happening. His contract is too rich and the Texans are apparently asking for a lot.VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 1:09 pm I just found out that Smith has a very bad high ankle sprain expected to keep him out 8-10 weeks. Vikings just put Smith on IR, so definitely needed a TE

The Texans IMO won't get a lot for Cooks at best a 2nd round pick for a 4th round pick swap.Maelstrom88 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 1:13 pmI don't see that deal happening. Re: TJ Hockenson a Viking
Hock is twice the TE Irv was (maybe 3 times) and will be a favorite target of Cousins. I watched him a lot in college, he is a stud.VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 1:27 pmWhen we first traded for Hockenson I wondered why. When I found out Smith was basically done for the year that explained it.

Re: TJ Hockenson a Viking
TJ Hockenson is a STUD !!! Was one of the best TE prospects ever to come out. Is a GREAT blocker. He also has the ability to stretch the middle. I hope we use him the way KC uses Kelce or even SF using another Hawkeye in George Kittle.
This move is exactly what we needed offensively, except OL. I do not think we are even interested in Cooks now.
Kirk Cousins has to be ecstatic right now. JJ, AT, and now TJ !!! Daaaang
