Vikings selected Appalachian State OG Colby Gossett with the No. 213 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
Gossett (6’5/315) made 46 career starts at right guard for the Mountaineers, earning first-team All-Sun Belt in each of his final two years with just one sack allowed during that span. Although Gossett is a mere 25th-percentile SPARQ athlete, he has long arms (33 7/8") for an interior blocker and massive hands (10 7/8"), and pumped 32 reps on the bench in Indy. Experienced in a zone-blocking scheme and an outstanding reach blocker on tape, Gossett has mauler potential in the run game with enough length to compensate for his movement limitations in pass protection.
This was one of the remaining guards I was referring to in the draft picks thread. Excellent pick here

Know nothing about him but I did notice Kiper had him at #2 on his BPA when he was picked. Seems pretty well rounded physically:

At least he is strong at the point.
Sounds like a good run blocker
at RG someday.

I was not happy with the draft but
Diggs was a late round guy who
dropped because of injury concerns.

Theilen was an undrafted guy.

Maybe we get another diamond
in the rough.

Drafted: Round 6, No. 213 overall out of Appalachian State.
Analysis: Gossett offers a better combination of size and strength than most of the guards on the Vikings' roster and he showed at Reese's Senior Bowl practices in January that he might be able to acclimate to the jump in competition faster than expected. I expect Gossett to quickly move up the depth chart in camp and become a starter, perhaps as early as this season.
Gossett is listed as one of seven late round rookies that will exceed expectations.

That's good news! I don't know much about him. Hopefully a diamond in the rough.
