Vikings @ 49er's Gameday Discussion Thread -- Week 1
Good morning and Skol!!
So happy to be making this thread. The game isn't until tomorrow night but there will be a lot of build up.
This could be a special year.
Prediction: Vikings 27, 49ers 13
----------------------------
Heading into Monday night’s season opener, the San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings are moving in opposite directions.
The ‘Niners, who made the NFC Conference Championship three seasons in a row from 2011 through 2013, won just eight games last year, and now, with a new coach in Jim Tomsula and an incredible amount of roster turnover–Patrick Willis, Justin Smith and Chris Borland retired, while Frank Gore, Mike Iupati, Chris Culliver and Perrish Cox signed elsewhere–expectations are low.
Conversely, Minnesota, which hasn’t won a playoff game since 2009, showed improvement in Mike Zimmer’s first season in 2014, and with second-year quarterback Teddy Bridgewater progressing and Adrian Peterson back after missing nearly all of 2014, expectations are as high as they’ve been in a long time.
The spread for Monday’s contest represents the shift for each franchise. According to OddsShark, the line opened with the ‘Niners as 4.5-point favorites at home, but that has moved nearly seven points in the opposite direction.
Line: Minnesota (-3)
Moneyline: Minnesota (-145), San Francisco (+125)
Over/Under: 41.5
Trend to Know: In the last five games of 2014, Minnesota covered the spread four times, while San Francisco covered just once.

Anyone else going to the game?
The difference between men is not lack of strength, not lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.

I live in Fairfield (an hour from the Bay). I want to go but haven't found a decent ticket at a decent price.LA Viking wrote:Anyone else going to the game?

I just realized the game starts at 9:20 CENTRAL time!!! WTF??? Why don't they have two west coast teams if the game is that late?

Well you got to be fair to the home team. If they did a 7pm east coast start the game would be starting at 4pm... not really a Monday night game...
Re: Vikings @ 49er's Gameday Discussion Thread -- Week 1
Works gonna drag ####! I can't wait till kickoff. Hopefully they play a good sound game and a dominate both sides of the ball!

I am probably going to have to take a nap so I can watch the whole thing without ruining my next workday!
