Cover 2 is hit-and-miss for Vikings
With a three-and-out possession and a takeaway that led to a 7-7 tie, the Vikings defense was outstanding through the first 13 minutes of Sunday’s game at Cincinnati. But then things began to unravel when defensive coordinator Alan Williams dialed up a coverage that’s been a Vikings staple through good, bad and ugly times since Mike Tomlin arrived as Brad Childress’ defensive coordinator in 2006.
At 4-10-1, chances are the Vikings will be making significant changes after the season. One of them could include a different defensive core philosophy for the first time since 2005.
