Short piece for an article...but it really says a lot IMO.

no alibis....is that like no excuses? :?

The d has seemed to play good for stretches in games but all too often gets outmaneuvered on the critical downs.

A stud at LB will go a long way in fixing some of that. What it would be like to have a guy like Kuechly(sp) QBing the D.

To bad our idiot HC doesn't take some time to read some of these articles by some of the great Vikings. I wish we could get eller to teach our line and LBs how to play. I wonder what he thinks of Mitchell celebrating after every tackle he makes, and then not making the tackle 5 or 6 times in a row.

Yes, I think that's what he meant.

It would make a big difference. Greenway's play has fallen so far that I'm not sure the Vikings have even one starting caliber LB on their roster right now.

First thing I thought of too.

His brief critique of our D is very blunt and he's right. We are horrible. We need a solid LB almost as much as we need a QB. I actually found his comments on Ponder to be the most interesting (at the risk of derailing the thread to the one topic that really gets beat to death… sorry Jim!)
Eller’s issues with the Vikings extend beyond the defense. There’s quarterback Christian Ponder, too.

“He’s not shown anything to build confidence in him through this point in the season,” Eller said. “I know he’s trying but … I just don’t think he’s the guy. That stuff filters out through the team. The leader (of a team) leads by performance, and I just don’t think he’s done that. And the quarterback has to lead the team.”
That sort of sounds like an "alibi" (read: excuse/ scapegoat) for the D… but I think he's essentially right. The whole team seems lost and lacking confidence and in part it's due to instability at the most important position on the team.

That story is a hoax. It was disproved two weeks ago.

Yeah,

The bad news is… The Vikings' D truly is "horrible".

Breeze, what's the word over there in Oregon? Is Mariota coming out or staying? And just how hurt is he?

I'm in transit enroute to the southwest....I haven't been able to keep track of stuff.

I'd wager he stays, given how their season has turned. He wants a championship.

Personally, I just don't think the Ducks can handle the physical teams good enough to win it all...., him staying should help his development some I guess.

They don't talk about injuries at all in Eugene, so it's hard to say how healthy anyone is up there.

 That's the same thing with Fran's "article" a few weeks ago. Average fans have been saying this crap for weeks if not years, but when a former player says it I guess it's time for concern.
