Patriots received pick No. 162 and pick No. 239 as compensation. From playing against eighth-graders as a fourth-grader to earning Freshman All-American and honorable mention All-Pac-12 honors in his first season with the Trojans, Smith's notoriety began at an early age. He mustered only 10 games in 2018, but still landed on the second-team all-conference list after leading USC with 81 tackles and four pass deflections. Smith flashed extremely athletic traits in Indy, too, measuring in the 90th-percentile in hand size and vertical jump while clocking a 4.69 40-time at the combine. He'll fight to finish as a depth body out of camp with the Vikes.

Seems like a good value pick. Didn’t know a ton about the kid but looks like he fell a little due to injury last year. Just watched some tape on him. He’s a brute of a LB and is excellent in coverage. Sure tackler too. Seems like good value

Asked my USC buddies what they thought of him and if he belongs in the NFL. They said yes, he is a tackling machine, and fell due to PED stuff.

Well, assuming he didn't play as well as he did because of the PED stuff, he's definitely a hitter. When he gets locked on, the player he hits goes down. End of story.

Not sure how he's going to hold up as a pro, but seems like a guy who could find a niche and become an effective player in it.
