Wow. That's an impressive list to be on, and he more than belongs. What a talent to have on our team.

Harrison Smith has really grown as a player I think and fixed some of the stuff(always going for the big hit on tackles) from his rookie year. Those 18 ints by Reed is nuts, not sure if any safety is going to match Reed as far as INT numbers go

Vikings site just put up a video on Smith: http://www.vikings.com/media-vault/vide ... f8323b19ec

As dubious as some of us feel Pro Football Focus is, they have ranked Harrison Smith as the top safety in the NFL through the season's first three weeks.

Maybe the kid will finally get his due. Sure hope so. He's earned it.

So when does his contract come up, and will the Viking's be able to afford him?

(Meaning: Do I invest in a jersey, or will I be disappointed again? The last jersey I bought was Percy Harvin and that got burned at half time the last time we played him.)

Just privileged and thankful to have him and Xavier as a part of our team.

Mark my words that not only zimmer, but management will by ANY MEANS keep him. And xavier for that matter. Zim doesn't let elite db talent go

I compared him and Earl Thomas after the pro bowl voting came out last year and said that Smith was the better safety. It's just Thomas is the popular name so the fans vote for him. Thomas has always been surrounded with great defensive backs. Smith wasn't for quite some time but has very good ones around him now. He's been the most underrated player on the Vikings since I don't even know who. The kid is no joke and IMO, he's the best safety in the league. He was recently voted to the pre-season All pro team and I think thats where he belongs. He can cover and come up and make big plays. He's an all around stud safety

I would compare him to Joey Browner and say that he is the best safety the Vikes have had since Browner.

Vikings: Harrison Smith rated best safety in NFL through three games

Smith, who is still on his rookie contract, figures to get a lucrative extension when he becomes a free agent after next season. The Vikings have put negotiations off until after this season because they generally don't extend contracts with more than one year left on them.

Smith's salary is $2.27 million this season and $5.28 million next season, in the fifth and final year of his rookie contract.

Given the value and rarity of a safety who can cover my guess is that Harrison will get a big contract from the Vikings.

Yeah, I am sure he will get top money,, he deserves it ...

I am hoping Exum gets a chance to be his partner on the back end soon.

I think he is the best physical match for the other safety role. In speed and ability

If the Vikings let him go, I will officially lose all faith in the team. I'm seriously not worried about this at all, though. The only issue should be how long he's under the franchise tag. He's the best in the league in my very biased opinion.
