After a two-year run of pectoral and low back injuries, the #Vikings let go of strength coach Evan Marcus.

The 6-foot, 200-pound Sinkfield played college ball at Northern Iowa. He was not invited to the combine in 2013 but did work out at University of Minnesota pro day where he impressed scouts by running a 4.19 40.
he 25-year-old Sinkfield had a huge year in Canada in 2015, catching 69 balls for 1,030 yards and 6 TDs. Sinkfield grew up in Minnetonka and went to Hopkins High School.

FYI Sinkfield is fast (4.3s) but not that fast. His pro day time doesn't match up with digital timers so hold your horses on that one

Passing this bit of ex-Vikings news along.

Kenechi Udeze - Trojans

Multiple outlets are reporting that USC assistant strength coach Kenechi Udeze will be named the team's DL coach.
Udeze, who played his college ball for the Trojans, was a first-round selection by the Vikings in 2004. He spent four seasons at the pro level, but a leukemia diagnosis forced him to retire in 2009 after his chemotherapy treatments caused physical complications on the field. In the six years since, he's spent time on the coaching staffs of Washington, the Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh. Last season, he was hired as assistant strength coach of USC.

Some reason for optimism...
@Luke_Spinman I'm listening to Viks DB coach Jerry Gray talk to Joey Porter on the sideline and I could sit here all day man this is invaluable.

"Trae Waynes is probably going to be the best out of all of them...Maybe not going to be a big INT guy but he's going to lock everyone down"
Not sure what "best out of all of them" means. Could be best on the roster or best CB in his class. Either way, nice to see such positive comments on Waynes from his position coach. We need more eavesdropping.

Vikings name Brent Salazar strength and conditioning coach
The Minnesota Vikings have named Brent Salazar Strength and Conditioning Coach. Salazar will be entering his 11th season in the NFL in 2016, having spent the previous nine seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.

This will be Salazar’s first opportunity as a head strength and conditioning coach. He first worked in the NFL in 2005 as a strength and conditioning intern with the Denver Broncos. Salazar was with Kansas City from 2007-15 as a strength and conditioning assistant. He has captured two division titles (2005-Denver, 2010-Kansas City) while making four playoff appearances and five winning seasons during his decade in the NFL.

Salazar spent several years working in the collegiate ranks before returning to the NFL with Kansas City in 2007. While a member on the New Mexico tennis team, Salazar worked the 2002-03 seasons with the football and baseball programs. He spent part of 2005 with UNLV as a strength and conditioning intern with the football team. In 2006, Salazar was named Assistant Director of Athletic Performance at the University of Pacific. He was responsible for designing and implementing the training regimens for seven varsity sports.
Salazar graduated from New Mexico in 2003 with a degree in Exercise Physiology. He is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. The Denver, Colo., native is married to his wife, Kendra, and they have two children; Ella and Ty.

In the days after the emotional loss, players and coaches recuperated and looked on as the Broncos claimed Super Bowl 50 earlier this month. With the NFL calendar now flipped to 2016, Zimmer and others across the league have begun working on new resolutions and goals.

“I think the biggest thing for me, the thing I’ve noticed about this season so far, after we lost to Seattle in the playoff game, I feel more determined,” Zimmer said in a recent interview with Vikings.com’s Mike Wobschall. “We almost had a taste of it. I want to get back. I want to start grinding again.

“I want to get that feeling but I want to go farther, so I think I’m maybe more motivated than I even was in my first two years, I think, from just having a taste of it,” Zimmer continued. “That’s kind of how I’ve been feeling this offseason. When the team comes back and we start getting into conditioning and all that stuff, then I’ll think more about how we have to approach it with the team, but I know personally for myself, I feel more motivated than ever.”
“I do think anytime you have a dominant defense, that you have a chance to win a lot of football games,” Zimmer said. “I think this year we played good defense. I don’t think we were great on defense. We still have a long way to go, but playing good defense gives you a chance to win an awful lot of football games, and the way that they did it was impressive.

“I feel good about the nucleus of our football team, but what we did a year ago really doesn’t matter,” Zimmer continued. “I’ve got a new saying this year, that ‘Good is the enemy of great,’ so that’s kind of going to be my mindset with the team.”

From Rick's comments to reporters today (02/18)
@GoesslingESPN Spielman also said he thinks Terence Newman wants to play this year, but added he thinks Newman is a corner, not a safety.
@Andrew_Krammer With #Vikings young core, Spielman anticipates 'significant contracts' coming down the pipe. Harrison Smith next? 'I would imagine'
@GoesslingESPN Spielman said there won't be competition for Blair Walsh. He acknowledged #Vikings took a while to find Peterson/Bridgewater balance.
@Andrew_Krammer Spielman: Next season will be a "tell-tale" year for Cordarrelle Patterson. Said there's 'no question' what he can do with the football
@GoesslingESPN Spielman said 2016 will be a pivotal year for Cordarrelle Patterson to prove he can be a WR. That'd imply he'll be on roster.
-- But will he be involved in the offense?

@Andrew_Krammer Spielman: #Vikings started combine prep with offensive players. Called O-line prospects "a pretty deep class."
