Fun Offseason Simulations (Feel Free to Post Your Results)!

Post by HardcoreVikesFan »

Hey guys,

I know everyone is probably not focused on Vikings' football right now, but I just wanted to post some links for anyone that needs a Vikings fix. Like last year, the On the Clock by Fanspeak is up and running again for the 2015 NFL draft. Fanspeak has also introduced Manage the Cap, where you can simulate Free Agency. Lastly, there is another draft simulation site called First Pick, where you can simulate the 2015 draft.

http://fanspeak.com/mtc/ (Free Agency Simulator)

http://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/ (2015 NFL draft simulator)

http://www.first-pick.com (you need to register a free account to use)

I have been enjoying these. I will eventually post my results when there have been a few more updates to reflect a more realistic offseason. Feel free to post your results! It will be interesting to see how these progress throughout the offseason.

Ha. This was fun. I don't know how realistic these things are but here were some of mine:

###

The "Competition"

11:OT BRANDON SCHERFF, IOWA
45: OT ANDRUS PEAT, STANFORD (I know, I know. But Peat was the highest guy on my board at the time by far and it seemed silly to pass him up. I'm all for competition to the left of Sullivan, though)
76: RB TODD GURLEY, GEORGIA (would doubt he lasts this long)
107: CB ALEX CARTER, STANFORD (would doubt he lasts this long)

---
The "Our Defense is Fine" OR "The Jim"

1: QB JAMEIS WINSTON, FLORIDA STATE
2: RB TODD GURLEY, GEORGIA
3: OT CEDRIC OGBUEHI, TEXAS A&M
4: WR SAMMIE COATES, AUBURN
5: CB JOSH SHAW, USC

---

The "Ha Ha In Your Dreams" or "Pfffffffft"

1: WR KEVIN WHITE, WVU
2: ILB ERIC KENDRICKS, UCLA
3: CB IFO EKPRE-OLOMU, OREGON
4: RB TODD GURLEY, GEORGIA
5: G JOHN MILLER, LOUISVILLE

Do we only have 5 picks this year or is that all the farther the simulator goes?

No, but I just wanted to do the top-5 rounds. I think you can do all rounds if you want.

So... Besides class, going to the gym, and spending time with the girlfriend, I have been messing around with the first pick website all day. I am trying to get onto the leaderboards and have the greatest draft of all time.

EDIT: This was my best draft: http://www.first-pick.com/NFL/DraftGame.aspx

Your score is: 5781 (GRADE: A)

Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 14 (MIA): Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford (A)
Round 2 Pick 13: Jaelen Strong, WR, Arizona State (A)
Round 2 Pick 15 (MIA): Cameron Erving, C, Florida State (A)
Round 3 Pick 12: Carl Davis, DT, Iowa (A)
Round 3 Pick 13 (CLE): Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia (A)
Round 4 Pick 11: Jesse James, TE, Penn State (A)
Round 5 Pick 13: Kevin White, CB, TCU (A)
Round 6 Pick 7 (CHI): Ben Heeney, ILB, Kansas (A-)

Your Future Picks:
2016 Round 1 Pick
2017 Round 1 Pick

http://www.first-pick.com/NFL/DraftGame.aspx (earlier draft that was graded high)

Your score is: 5562 (GRADE: A)

Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 11: Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama (A)

Round 2 Pick 16 (S.D.): Cameron Erving, C, Florida State (A)

Round 3 Pick 12: Za'Darius Smith, DE, Kentucky (A-)

Round 3 Pick 19 (S.D.): Ameer Abdullah, RB, Nebraska (A)

Round 4 Pick 11: Cedric Ogbuehi, OT, Texas A&M (A-)

Round 5 Pick 13: Lorenzo Doss, CB, Tulane (A)

Round 6 Pick 12: Christian Covington, DT, Rice (A)

Round 7 Pick 11: Jake Ryan, OLB, Michigan (A)

Your Future Picks:
2016 Round 1 Pick
2017 Round 1 Pick

Hard to say how realistic this would be - I am sure there is no way Cooper would last until pick 11.

I love this simulation site. Right now its just fun, but once we find out about ad, and we get closer to FA and Draft day, this site will get a million hits. Theres still snow on the ground, a lot of ice fishing left, then spring and summer in MN, and im still thinking Vikings.

MISSISSIPPI STATE
76: R3P12

second method team need based on my opinion of biggest need OG, ILB, S, TE
