Blast it, Jim! You took the quote I was going to use!

Okay, from the same article:
"When we do it right, we're pretty darn good; and then when we start losing our minds, it goes south." Mike Zimmer
"Losing our minds"...I love it. Sometimes Zimmer's gruffness cracks me up. :D

He's definitely proving to be a quotable coach so this should be an entertaining thread for a long time. :)

If the Vikings are indeed the Bad News Bears, at least the Bears made it to the championship game. They lost but then everybody drank beer.

@christomasson
Should we start calling Mike Zimmer Morris Buttermaker?
Hahahaha.

"When you win you cover up a lot of warts..."

"I don't remember the first score, there were so many of them it's hard to rememeber"

And then there's this.... best of them all! The best was at the end the report says "I figured that"

Here's a good Zimmer quote:
“I’m trying to instill the toughness that I want these guys to have,” Zimmer said. “I don’t want them to see me saying, ‘Woe is me’ over the stuff that has happened. I’ve seen a coach quit on his team.

“Regardless of how bad it gets, I’ll never use anything as an excuse. I can’t let our football team see that the guy who supposedly is leading them is going to flinch the first time I get a punch thrown at me.”

I like that - I believe he's referring to Bobby Petrino? Zimmer is old school, that much is certain. He reminds me of my high school coach in some ways. Seems like he thinks carefully about how the things he says and does will be perceived.

"The weird thing about it is the OTAs, training camp and everything else was so smooth. Everything was kind of like how I envisioned it would be. And then the St. Louis game was pretty much the same way. And then, I don’t know, whatever the word is, it kind of hit the fan.”
