Exactly....glad we can agree Demi. I can see us being around .500 this year and working our way up as the years go on. We are an extremely young team and have a lot of players that haven't even hit their prime. You're right... those coaches were in wayyy over their head and I couldn't be more happier that we are finally out of that terrible Tampa 2 defense and we don't have a legitimate moron calling the plays on offense.Demi wrote: Yeah, we got potential top 5 guys now. Frazier was completely over his head. As was Musgrave. Along with Cassell starting from day one. I think we're more likely to be around .500 than 3 wins.

Wow, look at all the mediocre Mary's in this thread. Where's all the positivity that I'm constantly berated for not having? It's only acceptable to be realistic in April or what?
I see 12 wins on the schedule. Some of those "good" teams are on the decline like New England, New Orleans, and Atlanta. Some are pretenders at best, Chicago, Carolina, and Washington. And you can't tell me you're worried about St. Louis, Detroit, Buffalo, Tampa, Miami, the Jets, or Detroit? Pffff this schedule isn't scary at all. Green Bay is probably our only challenge and that's only if Rodgers stays healthy. We all saw how good they are without him xD.
I think you meant 6. You forgot the home games we'll have on Jan 11th and 18th.dead_poet wrote: How many potential "cold weather" games? I think there might only be the potential for four:
Week 12-14 (home games): Nov. 23, 30, Dec. 7 and week 17 @ Chicago (Dec. 28).

Oh you think so huh? Who was the Seahawks first home opponent when they temporarily played at Husky stadium in 2000? Who was the Bears first home opponent when they temporarily played in Champaign in 2002 while Soldier field was being upgraded? OK how bout an easier one, who was our first regular season opponent at the dome in '82?Funkytown wrote:Oh well, it's our home opener, and it's part of history. I'm sure it'll be a trivia question someday: "Who did the Vikings open up against at TCF Bank Stadium in 2014?"

Ha! That's an easy one. It was the Vikings. I was at that game. It was a disappointing loss but the tailgating was fun.Reignman wrote:Who was the Bears first home opponent when they temporarily played in Champaign in 2002 while Soldier field was being upgraded?

Re: vikes schedule
For a team in the top half of the NFL this would be considered a very easy schedule. But I agree - it could be a very trying season if the Vikings start out 1-5 or 0-6.Valhalla wrote:It's a tough start:
@Rams, host Patriots, @Saints.
People are talking up the Rams though they missed out last season.
For the way the last few Vikings seasons have started up, one worries about getting into a hole opening up the season but past the first 3 games, it looks very doable.

Re: vikes schedule
7-9 road game, then Patriots, Saints on the road, into Falcons and Packers on the road.
We could lose every single one of those games.
The schedule gets substantially easier after that. If we can get 2 or 3 wins in the first 5 we should be looking good.
This doesn't look as tough as I thought it was going to be. With better coaching, particularly a superior offense starting Cassel,
I think we should go 8-8, maybe better.
Rams OR Falcons
One of Packers, Patriots, Saints
Split with Lions and Bears or better
Beat Jets, Bills, Redskins
Beat at least 1 of the remaining: Dolphins, Panthers, Buccaneers

Re: vikes schedule
quite frankly unless you are on drugs there is no way this team wins this division. none. with that said, i hope they don't throw bridgewater to the sharks when he isn't ready because lets be realistic here this team is not a playoff team this year. end of story.

Re: vikes schedule
I look at our schedule and worry about how we will come out of the 1st 6 games. Since we dont know the identity of this team yet 1-5 is a real possibility and if that happens the season is over before the bye. However, if we can start strong and win 4 of those first 6.......then a 10 win season and the playoffs would also be a possibility. I really believe the first 6 games will define the entire year.

I'm decently optimistic about this year, but great draft? Everyone in the league thinks they had a great draft this time of year.Purple bruise wrote: Wow, new coaches, great draft, and you feel like the Vikes will lose two more games than they did last year
