I read when he was asked about the comments he did not deny them and said he was making a point, a sick one IMO, about the institutionalization in happy valley. I think it's pretty twisted...but I respect that he's not denying it. I don't see his actions as something to model but it's definitely stirring the pot in an interesting direction and allowing for some points of view to be expressed in arenas that have been long over due. And that's all that matters to me. There is real power to words and people are going to figure that out one way or the other.Valhalla wrote: I'm not sure if it is true that Kluwe has been totally forthcoming. Has he been honest in speaking about the Sandusky incident? Even now, he may be spinning it per KFAN early today that his actions were a bit of a protest against those making fun of Sandusky. Maybe one can listen to his morning call, I don't want to misinterpret it.
This link seems to get into this angle a bit.

And that's why we can't have nice things.
That was quite a rant and I'd address it further but I think it probably ventures too far off topic and out of the realm of this forum and this discussion. I realize I started us down that path with my post this morning but I just thought it might be a good idea to acknowledge that elephant in the room. It's probably best not to venture too far afield from football and events surrounding the team.
I think that's drawing a sweeping conclusion from scant evidence. I also don't believe Kluwe "has actually stood up and been accountable for every word he has said", although, I'd like to see that happen. For example, I'd love to hear him explain why his version of events, from his attack piece on Deadspin...I think Demi is not far off the mark on how this team is being run. From what i have seen, the only guy in this whole mess that has actually stood up and been accountable for every word he has said, even the really crappy things, is Chris Kluwe.....and he is the freak.
.. differs so significantly in almost every detail from Loeffler's version of events. Is it embellished? Is he conflating two different events? If Loeffler's take is the wildly inaccurate version of what happened, why didn't anyone present in the meeting Kluwe described recall what he claims happened?Near the end of November, several teammates and I were walking into a specialist meeting with Coach Priefer. We were laughing over one of the recent articles I had written supporting same-sex marriage rights, and one of my teammates made a joking remark about me leading the Pride parade. As we sat down in our chairs, Mike Priefer, in one of the meanest voices I can ever recall hearing, said: "We should round up all the gays, send them to an island, and then nuke it until it glows." The room grew intensely quiet, and none of the players said a word for the rest of the meeting. The atmosphere was decidedly tense. I had never had an interaction that hostile with any of my teammates on this issue—some didn't agree with me, but our conversations were always civil and respectful. Afterward, several told me that what Mike Priefer had said was "messed up."

Re: Kluwe rips Frazier, Spielman, Priefer
So we are supposed to take what Priefer said literally (I doubt anyone in the USA, other then fanatical religious groups) would want any group of people to be murdered. But we gotta give Kluwe a pass on everything he's said negatively about groups of people (look it up, theres a lot of remarks but this egomaniac that reek of a lot of the -isms). This thread sounds like a political thread. Talk about messed up.
And I hope this isn't sexist, but do any of you guys follow the Vikes on Facebook and see those pics and video's of the Cheerleaders? Humana humana...

Re: Kluwe rips Frazier, Spielman, Priefer
From Spielman presser:
Rick Spielman says Mike Priefer will be suspended for three weeks. Doesn't sound like he'll be able to work during the week.
Spielman said the #Vikings are still trying to figure out how to proceed during Priefer's suspension. Ryan Ficken is the assistant ST coach.
#Vikings using outside firm for Priefers sensitivity training. After, will discuss progress and determine if it's down to 2 game suspension
Spielman: Decision on Priefer came directly from Wilfs.
Spielman won't address when Priefer admitted to team he made remarks. Said Priefer "is very remorseful."
"He made a mistake and he owned up to it." -- Spielman on Priefer. Didn't really directly answer Q about whether he considered firing him
Spielman won't talk about why organization didn't release full report.
Asked Spielman if they considered firing Priefer, but he dodged the question, saying they thought suspension was the best course of action.
Priefer will be totally removed from the building, won't have any contact with team during suspension, Spielman said.
Spielman also won't address whether Les Pico shared details of Kluwe's complaint about Priefer when he told him about it.
Spielman declined to comment on whether they will take action against Les Pico/why the #Vikings opted not to release full summary.
Spielman says #Vikings looking at "all options" to handle Priefer's suspension, including interim ST coach.

Zimmer presser:
Zimmer: "Hes a guy I want to stand by. If anyone here hasn't made a mistake, raise your hand" -- on Priefer
Zimmer said he thinks that the Priefer situation is a distraction now, but he thinks that will pass as soon as the first practice starts.
Zimmer said Priefer is a "high-quality" character guy and that he wants to stand behind him. Says that everybody makes mistakes.
Zimmer said he talked with Priefer about Kluwe situation when he was filling out staff. Can't recall when Priefer admitted remarks to him.

Priefer presser:
Priefer starting now. Said he failed the standard he sets for himself with comment.
Priefer: I spoke to appropriate individuals, cooperated fully with process.
Priefer said his biggest regrets are bringing negative publicity to the team and letting his family down.
Priefer won't answer specific questions about what he said and didn't say, deferring to the findings of the investigation.
Priefer: Haven't seen full report, wouldn't know if it should be made public.
Priefer: "I know I've embarrassed the organization." #vikings
Priefer said he isn't going to change the way he coaches but admits that he learned a "hard lesson" about showing sensitivity toward others.
Priefer very apologetic, little watery-eyed. Said he went below the bar, wants distraction behind him. "I won't change way I coach."
Priefer: I tried not to think about possibility of losing my job. #Vikings
riefer: Talked with Zimmer about situation during hiring process. Won't discuss details of conversations.
Priefer: Players realize I made a mistake. They realize this doesn't define who Mike Priefer is.

Loeffler: Never thought Priefer's comment was serious.
Loeffler: Kluwe laughed at the comment, too.
Loeffler: Haven't talked to Kluwe since Deadspin report came out.

Unless I'm mistaken he lied until Cullen Loeffler corroborated the story.Priefer: I spoke to appropriate individuals, cooperated fully with process.

It may not happen that quickly... Lawsuit on Hold.Cliff wrote:Yesh ... just release the actual report already.
Pioneer Press wrote:
The lawyer for former Vikings punter Chris Kluwe said a lawsuit against the team and special-teams coordinator Mike Priefer wasn't filed Wednesday as originally planned because his side plans to continue talks with the team about a possible settlement.
Attorney Clayton Halunen told the Pioneer Press on Wednesday he expects talks to go on for "the next couple of weeks" to see if anything can be reached.
I've told people a million times not to exaggerate!

I have a feeling we're never going to see that report.Just Me wrote: It may not happen that quickly... Lawsuit on Hold.
The leaked e-mail from Halunen, combined with the report you quoted above, makes me wonder if he still doesn't think it should be released and if he's been able to convince Kluwe they should keep trying to settle, that it's not in anybody's best interests for the results of the investigation to be made public.
I'd love to see a settlement. I'm ready to see this whole story to go away.

Yeah, I think Kluwe is the 2nd biggest hypocrite in the usa.
